MILLS, HELEN MARGUERITE “PEGGY” (nee KING) Passed away, on November 24, 2022, in her 100th year, after a short bout with COVID and Influenza A. Predeceased by her parents, James Harold and Mary Jane King; her siblings, Dorothy Jean, Vera Wallace (Brig. F.C.), Mildred Marshall (Don); and her daughter, Cathy. Peggy was the proud mom of Mary Jane, Tom (Christine), and Debbie (Bob). She will be greatly missed by them, as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and extended family. Born in Guelph, she was raised in a family that believed in hard work and public service. As an adult, she volunteered at churches, schools, North York General Hospital, and fundraised for and donated to many charities. As well, she handled childcare, crisis management, gardening, and event planning. She was a great cook, and her home welcomed everyone. She also had a lifelong love of music and singing, belonging to the Serenata Singers and later helping lead the sing-alongs at her residence. Even when her memory began to fail, the lyrics to her favourite songs were slow to fade. Peggy was devoted to her family, and she gave us love, support, and every opportunity for success and happiness. The family wishes to thank the Thompson House staff for their compassionate care. A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.
